Share a vehicle location with Location Link

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Zubie's platform allows you to share a vehicle's real-time location with anyone until the date/time you specify, or indefinitely.

This is a great way to let people who don't have a Zubie login locate a vehicle. Here are some examples of when our customers have used this feature :

  • Enabling asset recovery teams or law enforcement to track a stolen vehicle

  • Enabling partners like car dealerships to locate a vehicle on their lot

  • Sharing with impound lots to confirm a vehicle is there

  • Letting rental car customers know where the airport shuttle is in realtime

Follow these instructions to share any vehicle's location:

Access the Overview for the vehicle you want to share. You can get to the Overview by selecting the vehicle from your live map, then clicking the "overview" button.

Locate the location map within the overview:

Click on the button that says "share".

Here you have a few options:

  • Confirm which vehicle(s) you want to share. If you'd like to have more than one vehicle appear on the shared location link, simply click the arrow in the box labeled "vehicles and assets". Then you can select the additional vehicle(s).

  • If you have selected multiple vehicles, you have the option to hide parked vehicles. This will ensure the map only shows vehicles that are driving. This is a great option for a rental car shuttle location link.

  • Select the duration for your shared link. If you don't want the location link to expire, use the selector to indicate Share forever. Otherwise, select the date and time at which your location link should stop displaying the vehicle's location information.

  • Add a message to your location link map. This text will appear on the map in addition to the vehicle's name and location.

Then click Create Location Link.

What recipients will see:

  • After clicking the link, recipients will be able to monitor the vehicle's real-time location in the Zubie Locator web page, from any browser.

  • The current location is displayed, and updated as new locations are received from the Zubie Device.

  • If the vehicle is in motion, a breadcrumb trail will be shown (This trail will not appear if the Locator page is closed and opened later).

  • Once the expiration time is hit, the recipient won't be able to view the vehicle location.

Notes:

  • Be careful where you share your link. Anyone with the link will be able to monitor the vehicle's location until expiration.
